Part 1: /5 – Written test (seminar 9) Test (on vocab, grammar, expression and…) mail writing
Part 2: /15 – Video (to be sent for: 10/04/24) Your brief: This time, the whole purpose of this exercise is for you to develop and acquire education-related vocabulary and notions. You will be doing this work in groups of 3 or 4. So you are requested to:
1/ Choose whether you are working as sports coaches, in a sports club, or PE teachers, at school
2/ 1st scene: organise a training session with the sports club members, or a class with your students/pupils, and make them work (hard). As you did last semester, please give them precise, clear instructions as to what they are supposed to do, tell them what you expect from them (what the objective of the session is), and how they will be assessed. -> Each of you will all act as teachers or coaches, in turn.
3/ Second scene: film a few scenes where you will be talking to several individual pupils/students or members, because you are either concerned with their performance, or extremely pleased with it. (2 cases each = 2 cases X 3 of you = scene with 6 mini conversations)
4/ Third and final scene: time to report on your class or group progress! Please organise a meeting with your board (i.e.: with your headteacher and other teachers – > one of you will then act as the headteacher, one of you will be the PE teacher, one of you will be “another” teacher) OR with the sports club board members (i.e.: with your sports club director and the person in charge of the accounts -> one of you will be the director, one of you will be the accountant, one of you will remain as the coach). Please review the most interesting cases in this meeting, and make collective decisions as to what you need do next with the most difficult and/or best ones. (This meeting would be a “conseil de classe” in France. You may do a little bit of research and see how English speaking organise this type of monitoring and review of youngers’ progress).
What’s different this time? Semester 5 allowed us to assess your spoken English – we can build on and improve it: you will be working on some speaking exercises and on 3 occasions,I will ask you to record an audio, as you complete these exercises.
